We are very pleased to have Anna Wright working at the practice. Anna is registered with the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage Therapists (ISRM) and has a great deal of experience working with various different types of massage treatments to fit the needs of the individual that she is working with. In recent years this style of massage has also become known as Soft Tissue Therapy. The soft tissues of the body that are worked on include the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.
Sports and Remedial massage
Sports massage tends to be a stronger, deep tissue massage aimed at reducing muscle tightness, knots and adhesions. Coupled with stretching techniques this helps to increase flexibility and assist an athlete’s performance and recovery from activity.
As a Sports and Remedial massage therapist Anna is also experienced in helping people recover from sports injuries such as muscle tears, strains and sprains. A full case history and physical assessment is taken to assess the problem and design a recovery plan, including exercises and advice. The aim is to relieve pain and return the body to its former pre-injury state.
Preventative and Maintenance Massage
Another aspect of sports massage is a preventative and maintenance approach. Regular massage is often used by athletes’ to help stop the build up of tension and tightness relating to regular training and competition. This approach can be beneficial to sports people of all abilities and help you get the most out of your activities.
Relaxation Massage
Massage can be a great way of helping combat stress and tension in the body, you don’t need a specific problem to feel the benefit of massage. Postural strain from desk work, driving and the general day to day stresses and strains that we experience can respond really well to massage. People often choose to have a relaxation massage to simply help their well-being.
Pregnancy Massage
Anna is trained in Pregnancy massage and can work with women at all stages of pregnancy. Pregnancy massage is similar to a relaxation massage, aiming to relax tight muscles, ease aches and pains and improve circulation and mobility. The style and approach of a pregnancy massage is tailored to each expectant mother and adjusted to their needs accordingly. Special care is taken in giving massage during pregnancy in order to protect both mum and baby. Anna will thoroughly discuss these aspects with her clients before starting any treatments.
